BIOGRAPHY OF THE AUTHOR


                                                                     
                                                                     




  I was born on June 9, 1949, in the city of Cordoba, Argentina. I am the daughter of Angel Castricone and Maria Gasbarre de Castricone, and sister of Juan Franco, all Italians, Abrucese.
   My father, during the war, worked at FIAT in Florence, in the design department of aircraft engines, during a bombing the office where he worked was destroyed, saving his life.
   He learned that in Argentina, President Peron hired Italian technicians, signed up and was hired at the DINFIA aircraft factory in Cordoba.
   One year later he left that activity, and started his own company dedicated to the manufacture of machines for carpentry. It was the first manufacturer of lathes in Argentina.
   Since my childhood my parents took me to the movies. At an early age I learned about Italian Neorealism and American cinema with its westerns, comedies and dramas. I knew from an early age that I had an artistic vocation.
   As a young woman I studied theater and learned the cinematography career at the National University of Cordoba, I enrolled and did all the academic courses, and I received a Degree in Cinematography and as Professor in Cinematographic Education.
   From 1977 to the end of 1980, I was awarded a Scholarship of Studies of the Government of the Republic of Italy, and I obtained Italian citizenship. I studied at the RAI-Radio Italiana television, at the Accademia D'Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amico and I was a free-lance correspondent, for the EFE Agency. I interviewed actresses, actors, directors of Italian cinema and  writers.
   I wrote articles on Italian cultural life. The purpose was to study and perfect my artistic and cultural knowledge.
   I took contact with the beauty of Italy's landscape, art and history reflected in its architecture and the testimony of its ruins.
   In Italy I became self-taught, I discovered my vocation for study, and I formed my first library with books of Italian language, that I continued consulting in later years.
   Teaching at the National University of Cordoba, in the Chairs of Film Production and Television and Artistic Production Problems, in which I taught History of Art, I understood my vocation for teaching.
   The art, the teaching and the study marked my life, dedicated also, to my original family.
   To cinematography, it is also called the Seventh Art, because it conjugates in itself the other arts, which have preceded it.
   Teaching about the Italian Renaissance, specifically on the vault of the Sistine Chapel, I noticed that in its narrative syntax there was more movement than in the cinema of the Lumière brothers or in the current digital audiovisual language. Since then I dedicated myself to the study of the Italian Renaissance and especially to the study of the work of Michelangelo.
   The vault of the Sistine Chapel transcends the roof to reveal itself into a firmament of the Sacred Scriptures, into Genesis, the ancestors of Christ, the announcement of the Sibyls and Prophets, into the episodes of the people of Israel, in a narrative movement of Diverse significant intensity in their figures and in the geometric forms of the frame that contains them. The apparent architectural structure raises the ceiling, transforming it into a firmament of the origins of life in the world, according to Judeo-Christian history, which exceeds the limits of the Chapel to inscribe itself, rising, to the heaven created by God.
   In January of 1998, I traveled to Florence, Milan and Rome, bought books and filmed the works of Michelangelo.
   Since then I have been studying the work of Michelangelo.
